Ages

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

The OSHL is open to all high school players (grades 9 through 12) who have complied with registration requirements of the OSHL, Mid Am District, and USA Hockey.

When

What time of the year does this program run?

Tryouts with respective OSHL clubs generally range from April to August, with team activities (strength training & conditioning, on-ice) beginning around the same time. Teams practice and play games from around August to late February / early March.

Where

Where are practices and games typically held?

Practices and home games are specific to each individual team. Many organizations are based in the Columbus area and practices / games are held at various Chiller rinks around the city of Columbus. OSHL also has organizations that operate elsewhere in the state (Athens, Dayton, Oxford, etc.)

Practices

When are practices and how often are they?

Contact specific OSHL organizations for details, but generally plan for teams to practice 2-3 times per week.

Games

How many games will they play? What days of the week?

League games make up a subset of the actual number of games an OSHL team will play any given season. Generally, plan to play anywhere from 40-50+ games with the majority falling on weekends.

Jerseys

Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?

Jersey requirements are left to individual OSHL organizations.
